I put Ubuntu on the old VAIO desktop with a recently bought Linksys USB Wireless Adpater (WUSB54GC). I got all the latest Ubuntu updates. I didn't have to do anything special to get WIFI access, simply add the wireless connection under System >> Administration >> Network. The problem however is that everytime I reboot I have to manually restart the network using a script with the following command : sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart. Eventually I would make this a startup script. However, ideally I would like to figure out why the connection is not being created automatically on startup and fix it without that script. Any ideas?
Update : An upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10 corrected the problem. The WIFI connection
is started automatically after booting up.
